Fosters Pottery was set up in the 1950s in Redruth, Cornwall. They are best known for their distinctive lustre honeycomb glaze in shades of brown or green.
One of their best selling pieces were the 'glug glug' or 'gurgle' jug in the shape of an open mouthed fish. The name comes from the sound the jug makes when water is poured from it, though they were never designed to be used as jugs but as beautiful ornaments in their own right.
This jug has the distinctive green glaze over a brown base and still retains part of its original gold label. The jug is signed underneath.
This piece is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips or crazing.
The jug is 16cms high
