The ‘All Purpose’ chair was designed by Lucian Ercolani and manufactured in High Wycombe in the 1960s. Ercol furniture is synonymous with good design, quality materials and craftsmanship and is built for longevity. This is a real eye-catching piece of vintage retro furniture which is currently back in production and sale however no longer made from an English Elm wood.
Each chair has a solid English elm seat (light finish) with beech spindles and legs. The seat is showing some lovely complex elm grain. The subtly fashioned low backrest consists of 5 turned beech spindles. The spindles extend below the seat and are very striking. The well-constructed solid elm seat is inset beneath with angled tapering legs which provide perfect support, and matching stretchers help to bolster the chairs structural rigidity.
