Pierre Vandel was born in 1939 in Roubaix, France. He graduated in 1957 with a focus on industrial assembly and design. After graduation Vandel worked on experimental projects including a vertical aquarium and hi-fi unit.
After selling 5,000 tables in 1969 Vandel started a collaboration with Pierre Cardin. The Hollywood glamour of his lacquered metal and glass tables became very sought after and still remain his most collectable items of furniture.
The coffee table on offer was made at the height of Vandels design career. The maroon coloured lacquer is accented by gold trim and each piece is signed.
The clear glass is original and may have signs of of wear, commensurate with the age of the pieces. There are also a couple of chips to the lacquer (see pictures for details).
