Rolf Hesland was a Norwegian furniture designer and maker who was born in 1920 and passed away in 2010. He is known for his functional and timeless designs, which combine traditional woodworking techniques with modern aesthetics.
Hesland trained as a furniture maker in Norway and later studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He worked for several years in Denmark before returning to Norway in the early 1950s to establish his own furniture workshop.
Hesland's furniture pieces are characterized by their clean lines, simple forms, and use of high-quality materials such as wood, leather, and metal. His designs have been exhibited in several museums and galleries in Norway and abroad, and his work has received numerous awards and accolades over the years. He is considered one of the most important Norwegian furniture designers of the 20th century, and his pieces continue to be highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts today.
